10th Ave. and Grant St., Eugene

This small urban park is tucked into the Far West neighborhood, between 9th Place and 10th Avenue along Grant Street. It was constructed in 1982 with Community Development Block Grant Funds.

Public engagement for the playground renovation took place in 2023 and the project plans were put out to public bid in summer 2024.

The contract for the park renovation has been awarded and the contractor will begin construction on September 13th. Construction may continue through the fall and winter, weather permitting.

The goal is to complete the renovation and have the park open and ready for play by summer 2025.

Funding for this project comes from the 2018 Parks and Recreation Bond.

MLK park is on the way to delta ponds where we birdwatch. Sure isnt a thriving venue. Do parents even take kids to the park to romp or just chauffer them in privileged-per mobiles to their professionally organized activities. I need more data. This neighborhood park is being renovated as planned for in the voter approved 2018 Bond and the Parks and Recreation System Plan.  The $900,000 overall funding for this park comes mostly from the bond. None of the funding comes from the general fund that you noted in your document link.  This park is long overdue for renovation and for replacement of the play equipment so that the neighbors have a safe park within walking distance.
