Lincoln Street Bikeway Project
May 2024 update: Draft Intersection Design
A draft intersection design document is now available under the documents tab on the right-hand side of the screen. Community members can review the draft intersection designs and respond with questions and comments to Catherine Rohan at crohan@eugene-or.gov.
Project Background
The City of Eugene has secured funding from the Oregon Department of Transportation to design and build an all ages and abilities bike facility on Lincoln Street between 13th Avenue and 5th Avenue in 2025. A major goal of the Lincoln Street Bikeway Project is to create a safe and comfortable way for people on bikes to travel north and south on Lincoln Street between 13th Avenue and 5th Avenue.
The City's long-range Transportation System Plan identifies Lincoln Street as an important bicycle connection, linking the city’s existing bicycle lanes on 13th Avenue and 5th Avenue, in addition to increasing access to the downtown area.
The City of Eugene is committed to a vision of zero traffic deaths and life altering injuries, reducing greenhouse gas emissions, and providing more transportation options to all community members. The addition of an all ages and abilities bike facility on Lincoln Street moves the city one step closer toward achieving that vision.
What’s being planned?
The Lincoln Street Bikeway Project will build a curb separated 2-way bike facility on the east side of Lincoln Street between 13th Avenue and 5th Avenue. The design will retain the current on-street parking on the west side of Lincoln Street and reduce the number of vehicle travel lanes from two to one. Lincoln Street will be north bound only for vehicles between 13th Avenue and 5th Avenue.
This design was chosen for Lincoln Street after considering project and city goals, transportation analyses, parking utilization studies, national research and guidance documents, and what was heard during the project’s community engagement period. An engagement report summarizing engagement efforts and survey results is available under the documents tab on the right-hand side of the screen.
Though a design has been selected for Lincoln Street, there are still many smaller design details to be worked out. These details will be ironed out as the project moves through the engineering phase in 2024. Intersection design is one aspect of the project that is still being worked on. A draft intersection design document is now available under the documents tab on the right-hand side of the screen. Community members can review the draft intersection designs and respond with questions and comments to Catherine Rohan at crohan@eugene-or.gov.

Map
Use the interactive map to pinpoint spots in the project area you feel need extra attention. This could include intersections that feel difficult to cross when walking or biking, areas along Lincoln that need additional street lights, or any other spots that feel uncomfortable to you.
Note that the underlying aerial imagery is not totally up to date, so some newer infrastructure, like the 13th Avenue two-way protected bikeway, cannot be seen.
