We asked people ages 14-30 living in Lane County to submit entries in our Stop the Spread COVID-19 messaging contest for young adults and 67 individuals and teams responded!

Participants were asked to submit visual (graphic design or illustrative) or video content (no longer than 30-seconds) in English or Spanish that emphasizes to their peers the importance of preventing the spread of COVID-19. Winners were selected by a panel of judges and a public vote.

    Judging and Prizes

    A panel of judges made up of a variety of young adults, public information specialists, and public health experts will pick the winner in each of the seven categories listed below. Each winner will receive a $500 prize.

    1. Ages 14-18: 30-second video in English or Spanish
    2. Ages 14-18: Visual (graphic) in English or Spanish
    3. Ages 19-22: 30-second video in English or Spanish
    4. Ages 19-22: Visual (graphic) in English or Spanish
    5. Ages 23-30: 30-second video in English or Spanish
    6. Ages 23-30: Visual (graphic) in English or Spanish
    7. Spanish Language Graphic or Video (ages 14-30): Any Spanish entry in categories 1-6 will also be considered in this category, but each entry is only eligible to win one prize.


    Entries will be judged on the following criteria:

    • Creativity (30%) – The graphic/video should be creative and capture the attention of your peers within the intended age category (14-18, 19-22, 23-30).
    • Content (30%) – The message be accurate according to lead public health agency recommendations, understandable and well-structured.
    • Public Vote (30%)– The public vote will be weighed at 30% of the final criteria so don’t miss the opportunity to participate! The winner will receive a $500 prize.
      • Categories 1-6 (See above): Community members will have an opportunity to view all eligible submissions and vote for their favorites here on this web page beginning on the afternoon of Thursday, November 12 and continuing through 5 p.m. on Tuesday, November 17. NOTE: Before you can vote you must register for an account with Engage Eugene.
      • Category 7 (Spanish): Community members will be able to vote for their favorite entry in the Spanish language category on the La E-Kiss Facebook page through 5 p.m. on Tuesday, November. 17.
    • WiLdCaRd (10%) – Examples could include: creative use of props, authenticity, editing, humor, originality, etc.


    Winners will be announced on Friday, November 20.
