Eco Challenges to Celebrate Earth Day

The Shift Campaign: Eco Challenges to Celebrate Earth Day

After piloting the Shift Campaign in the fall of 2020 with the 13th Avenue Bikeway project, the City of Eugene is celebrating Earth Week by officially launching The Shift Campaign. The Shift Campaign is a brand that gathers an umbrella of projects related to shifting towards more sustainable living. This campaign is one way the City hopes to help our community reduce greenhouse gas emissions to reach the goals outlined in the Climate Recovery Ordinance. To celebrate Earth Week, the City is using The Shift Campaign to host a series of Eco Challenges.

The Shift Campaign Eco Challenges, hosted on Engage Eugene, feature a number of opportunities for climate action. Many of the projects encourage small, yet impactful changes individuals and households can make to their daily routines to help fight climate change and provide benefits like wellness and cost savings. These actions include reducing food waste, using active transportation, changing how we use and purchase goods, and more.

To join the fun, simply log on to Engage Eugene and click the heart next to the action you want to join. From there, leave a comment to share how you are engaging or add your voice to the “Share your Story!” feature. The Shift Campaign project page will also offer a news feature to keep the community up to date with recent projects and highlights.
