Golden Gardens is a large, 223-acre public park in northwest Eugene on the northern edge of the Bethel neighborhood. Proposed amenities include sports fields, neighborhood park amenities, and habitat protections. The City of Eugene wants your input to help design the future park! The City will use community input to prepare a concept plan that will direct the park’s development within three primary spaces:
habitat conservation area with trails
sports complex with vehicle access from Clear Lake Drive
neighborhood park designed primarily for residents within a half mile of the park
This project aims to balance recreational facility development with habitat conservation as well as the considerations of the immediate neighborhood with the broader community’s recreation needs and economic development interests.
Opportunities to share your ideas include public meetings, surveys, booths at community events, and more. The Public Involvement Plan, events and other details will be added here.

Sports Complex Market Study
This study analyzed the market, programmatic, financial, and economic feasibility of new multi-use sports facilities in Eugene and Springfield, Oregon. Phase One analyzed market demand and programmatic aspects. Phase Two analyzed location, operation, construction costs, economic impacts, and funding aspects. The study found that a high-quality baseball/softball and soccer/multi-sport facility with 16 fields is the greatest market need in the Eugene-Springfieldarea and that Golden Gardens Park is an “excellent/very good” site for the complex.
The 2005Interim Management Plan provides guidance to City staff on public access, recreation, and protection and enhancement of existing natural resource values for 36-acres surrounding the park's ponds and A-2 channel. The plan was developed prior to 2008 restoration efforts and park land acquisition and remains in effect until a new park master plan is developed. Note thatGeneral Site Strategies #4, related to dog training, and #5, related to BMX informal track, are currently not allowed in the park.

The City of Eugene is creating a plan for Golden Gardens, a 223-acre public park in the Bethel neighborhood. We need input from people who live near the park, who use or would use the park, and people who care about the park. Your insights are important and will influence the park design.
This is the second of three surveys in the public involvement process.
The survey will take 10-15 minutes to complete, and responses are anonymous. A paper version is available by contacting mkosmos@eugene-or.gov. Please encourage your neighbors and local contacts to take the survey! Thank you for engaging with our public process.
