A beloved 3.5 mile stretch of trail running along both sides of the Amazon Creek from Hilyard Street to Frank Kinney has been completely reconstructed.

Hiding under a fresh cover of bark is the new rock base that will provide long-term stability and allow year-round use. Two new footbridge crossings will help increase neighborhood connectivity.

Following next summer's Olympic trials, we will begin work on the trail located in Amazon Park, completing the full Amazon Trail reconstruction. The footprint of this popular trail will not change, but we will be adding a thicker rock base as well as replacing the lighting, stretching station, shelter and mile markers. Funding for this second phase of reconstruction will come from the 2018 Parks and Recreation Bond and system development charges.

Volunteers are a large part of what keeps the Owen Rose Garden in bloom. Many feel a special connection to the rose garden for the countless graduation photos, weddings and family picnics it has hosted over the decades. Others connect to this aromatic garden nestled between the Willamette River and downtown core because it provides a peaceful place to stop and smell the roses.

Join us and help keep Eugene's iconic rose garden looking beautiful. Our volunteer events are increasing to twice monthly. Starting January 2020, we've got more opportunities for you to connect with fellow garden enthusiasts and learn about roses.

These work parties are a great chance for novice and seasoned gardeners to volunteer together alongside our expert staff. Get hands-on experience in perennial plant care with guidance on pruning techniques, propagation methods, fertilizer needs, and general rose care. No experience is necessary.
